Best weight loss routine to do at gym?

I just joined my gym and now I'm trying to figure out the perfect routine to do at the gym. I will be mix up my exercises (aerobic cles, swimming, kickboxing etc.) but I just want a basic routine for the machines at the gym right now (and my gym has all basic machines you see everywhere). I want a routine that is best for weight loss and will sufficiently work me out. I hear that there are certain machines that are better to use for weight loss then others (like for instance i hear an elliptical really isn't effective for weight loss because it is too low impact) and I'm curious to find out if that is true. Please share if you have gym routines that helped you lose weight or whatever routine you think will help me. I usually do more cardio then strength, I'm 5'8, 255 pounds, and I don't really have an physical problems.... other then being overweight haha. I would really appreciate any help!!!
