Spanish homework : past subjunctive vs imperfect?

Subjunctive is not needed because there is no uncertainty. The past tense is all that is needed. In this case, it is the imperfect. An example of the past subjunctive use would be "Odiaria las restricciones de Inglaterra si me impusieran" or something like that. It's been a while.
