I made a quilt top and need help with the batting.Help Please?

I made a quilt top that measures 84 inches long and 72 inches wide. I want to put an even amount of batting on it, cut into squares. How many squares do I need, and how do I go about finding out how many squares I need. I've messed up so many times already. I need help bad.
